CONCORD, NH — A capital region teen will be in court next month after being accused of stealing political signs around Concord late last month.

On Oct. 23, former President Donald Trump was in Concord to sign up to be on the ballot for New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary, which Secretary of State David Scanlan set yesterday for Jan. 23, 2024. As is the tradition of some political campaigns, volunteers and staffers post signs on state roadways before a candidate visits to gin up awareness about an event or an election.

On Oct. 22, the day before Trump was expected to sign up, Trump supporters posted signs around the city.

Later, while continuing to patrol the area, the officer was in the area Fort Eddy Road area and saw the three people again, only this time, the officer said one of the three people appeared to be removing signs from the public way, and walking away with them, according to Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department. The officer headed over to the Fort Eddy Road parking lot of Pizzeria Uno where the three people were to find out what was going on. “All of them were Trump signs,” he said.

The suspect accused of pulling the signs up and taking them was identified as Hannah Elizabeth Lawrence, 18, of Clearview Drive in Bow. She was arrested and charged with remove-deface political advertising, a misdemeanor.

Lawrence was given personal recognizance bond in Concord District Court on Nov. 2. According to court records, the complaint was “accepted for filing” on Wednesday. Lawrence is due back in court for arraignment on Dec. 4.

According to Bow Assistant Town Clerk-Tax Collector Tammy Martin, Lawrence is registered as an “undeclared” voter.
