Brown, Hodder Join New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Board

The board is comprised of "leaders with substantial experience and accomplishments in business and in the public and nonprofit sectors."

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Board of Directors recently welcomed two new members: Mary Johanna Brown, founder and president of Brown & Company Design, and Lucy Hodder, director of health law and policy programs at the University of New Hampshire, according to a press statement.

The Charitable Foundation’s 14-member Board of Directors comprises leaders with substantial experience and accomplishments in business and in the public and nonprofit sectors in New Hampshire.

Brown, of Rye, pictured right, is the founder and president of Brown & Company Design, a nationally recognized strategic design firm, and Big Brown Books, a publishing company.

An active volunteer, Brown has also served on several New Hampshire nonprofit boards and is engaged in many community activities. She currently serves as the chair of the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation Board of Directors. Mary Jo is a graduate of Leadership NH’s Class of 2003, and a recipient of both the Manchester Union Leader’s “Top 40 Under 40” (2002) and the “Hero of the Year Award” from City Year New Hampshire. Brown graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BFA in Fine Art, English and Communications.

Hodder, of Hopkinton, is the director of health law and policy programs at the University of New Hampshire, a professor of law at UNH School of Law, and a member of the leadership team at the University of New Hampshire’s Institute for Health Policy and Practice.

Hodder has practiced law for nearly 25 years. Two decades of her career have been dedicated to healthcare and public policy. Hodder most recently served as legal counsel and senior health care policy advisor to Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter. She served as an assistant attorney general in New Hampshire and was a shareholder in the firm Rath, Young and Pignatelli, P.C. Hodder previously served as a member of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Capital Region Advisory Board. Lucy is a graduate of Princeton University and Georgetown University Law Center.
