Concord Community Music School

From the dusty porches of the rural South to the world’s biggest stages, slide guitar has shaped the sound of blues, rock, and beyond. In this immersive clinic, CCMS faculty Jarred Garneau traces the powerful lineage of slide guitar from its roots to the modern masters.We’ll begin with the pre–World War II pioneers who defined the foundation of slide guitar, exploring the raw, emotional playing of artists like Robert Johnson, Tampa Red, and Son House. From there, we’ll dive into the electrified revolution led by Elmore James, whose fiery tone and signature riffs reshaped the blues forever.The journey continues into the rock era with Duane Allman, whose lyrical slide work brought the instrument into stadiums and redefined its expressive potential. Finally, we’ll explore the modern voice of slide through Derek Trucks, examining how tradition, soul, and technical mastery merge into a truly contemporary sound.Through listening examples, demonstrations, and historical insight, this clinic offers a deep dive into the evolution, techniques, and spirit of slide guitar across generations.This event will be held in our historic Recital Hall. It is free of charge and open to the public, thanks in part to the generosity of the Walker Fund. Donations are appreciated.

Concord Community Music School and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute are proud to welcome The Moanin’ Frogs for an open workshop and concert on Thursday, October 8! The workshop will begin at 4:30 PM, followed by a concert at 6:00 PM.
<a href="https://www.themoaninfrogs.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Moanin’ Frogs</a> are a saxophone sextet ranging from soprano to bass, and are described as a genre-bending ensemble that offers “an electrifying approach to chamber music.” You won’t want to miss this spectacular group as they come to Concord this October!
This workshop and concert is presented in partnership with the <a href="https://www.avalochfarmmusic.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Avaloch Farm Music Institute</a>. Both the workshop and concert are free and open to the public, and do not require pre-registration.

During the peak season we have 40+ vendors at the market, with a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, plants, honey, maple products, potted plants, cut flowers, wood products, cheeses, dog treats, body care products and of course the super fresh bakery products that the market is famous for.
