Canterbury Police Ask for Help with Attempted Robbery Case

Concord Regional Crimeline: A masked man attempted to robbed the Fox Country Smoke House and reportedly assaulted an employee.

CANTERBURY, NH — The Concord Regional Crimeline has issued an alert asking for the public’s help identifying a man who allegedly attempted to rob a local store and assaulted an employee, according to an alert. At around 8 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2016, Canterbury Police, Loudon Police, and the New Hampshire State Police, were sent to the Fox Country Smoke House on Briar Bush Road for a report of an attempted robbery.

A white man, just under 6 feet tall, with a slightly stocky build, tattoos on his shoulder and arms, and wearing a ski mask, reportedly entered the front door of the store, and began filing a ski bag full of items, according to the alert. An employee saw the man and went to speak with him and was allegedly assaulted during the interaction.

The suspect reportedly started to flee the scene and the employee grabbed the suspect’s shirt, ripping it off the suspect. The suspect then continued out of the building and fled the area.

A NHSP K-9 unit tracked the fleeing suspect to where a vehicle appeared to be waiting for the suspect, who then left the area.

The Crimeline released two photographs of the suspect.
