Car Hits Bicyclist on Warren Street, Flees the Scene

Concord Police investigators are eyeing a hit-and-run incident from last week.

The Concord Police are looking for assistance in identifying a woman who struck a bicyclist during the morning commute last week.

According to a Concord Regional Crimeline alert, a vehicle struck a 16-year-old boy at around 8 a.m. on Jan. 14, on Warren Street. The vehicle was described as a red four-door Chevrolet.

According to the victim, he was riding his bike to school, west on Warren Street, when he approached the Warren and North Spring streets intersection. He was on the east side of the street. The victim saw the car on his right traveling west on the westbound side of the street. A woman was driving the Chevy, according to police. The victim waived the car through, since she was making a left-hand turn. But the woman waived him through, so he proceeded into the intersection.

When the victim got halfway through the intersection, the car drove into the intersection and struck him.

“According to the victim, the car’s right front bumper struck the rear wheel of his bike,” according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations division. “This resulted in the victim falling off his bike and striking his shoulder on the ground. As the victim looked up, he could see the female driver mouthing the words, ‘Oh my God.’ Despite this, the female driver continued on without stopping.”
