Coalition to End Homelessness Seeks Comment on Plan

Concord's board analyzing homeless issues releases 25-page on how to tackle the issue in the city.

The group of business leaders, activists, and city officials looking at a plan to tackle Concord’s homeless problem has released a new report and is asking for the public’s take on its initiative recommendations.

In eight sections across 25 pages, the committee analyzes some of the reasons why people are homeless and offers demographic information culled from interviews with people in the city. The plan also offers specific strategies to assist those who are homeless from expanded resource center hours to looking at other programs in communities that have tried to tackle the problem. Expanded services and assistance getting the homeless community to those resources is also being considered.

In a statement, Concord Mayor Jim Bouley said the recommendations were “an excellent start” to crate a more efficient system to help the homeless.

"We worked to make this process as inclusive as possible for people who live and work in Concord,” he said. “We were mindful of the concerns of residents and visitors to our City and created this plan to work to eradicate issues brought to our attention by the community and the homeless themselves.”
