Concord Cops Are Searching For Felon Accused Of Assaults, Criminal Threats With Weapon

Crimeline alert: David Melanson is wanted on several charges after being accused of assaults downtown; one victim was sent to the hospital.

CONCORD, NH — Police are seeking the public’s help finding a known felon accused of threatening and assaulting people in Downtown Concord earlier this month.

A Concord Regional Crimeline alert has been issued for David Melanson, 29, of Concord, who is wanted on two simple assault charges, two felony criminal threatening with a deadly weapon charges, and a felony count of criminal threatening, Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said.

The charges stem from an incident on March 13 downtown, he said. One of the victims in the case was taken to Concord Hospital with injuries. Melanson is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs around 165 pounds. He has brown hair.

Police warned anyone who knows where Melanson is to not approach him but, instead, to contact Concord police at 603-225-8600. Anonymous tips can also be made to the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.

Past Crimes

According to posts on Patch, Melanson has been arrested in Concord on criminal mischief and trespass charges between 2019 and 2022.

Melanson was previously convicted on drug possession, accomplice to kidnapping, and robbery charges, according to state officials.

At one point in October 2019, Melanson walked away from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester while on work release. The day before the escape alert, he was accused of burglary and receiving stolen property in Manchester, court documents stated. Melanson pleaded guilty to the burglary charge in January 2021 while the felony property charge was nolle prossed.

Melanson was convicted on felony drug possession charges in February 2016 after an incident in Manchester in June 2015. He was brought up on a probation violation in April 2018 and pleaded guilty to the violation.
