Concord Police ID Victims Of 2 Fatal Motorcycle Crashes In The Past 24 Hours: Follow-Up

CONCORD, NH — Police in Concord have released the names of two men who died in fatal motorcycle crashes during the past 24 hours.

Around 4:15 p.m. on Monday, police and fire and rescue teams were sent to the area of Washington and Fowler streets in Penacook for a report of a motorcycle crash. When they arrived, they found a rider, Ian McLauchlan, 63, of Warner, struck a guardrail on a small bridge over the Contoocook River. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police and firefighters were called to another crash involving a motorcycle around 9:15 a.m. on Clinton Street near the Hooksett Turnpike. When police arrived, they found a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and the motorcycle involved in a head-on collision.

The rider of the motorcycle, Joseph Kasper, 70, of Weare, was taken to Concord Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The roadway was closed for several hours.

Joseph Kasper, in April, doing something he loved — auctioning off items to support the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Greater Concord program.

Kasper was a very active member of the Concord community, having worked for Northeast Delta Dental as a director of corporate services while being involved in many Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce events. He also served many decades on boards and committees in the capital region.

According to Sgt. Thomas Yerkes of the Concord Police Department's criminal investigations division, both crashes are still under investigation.
