Concord Firefighter Unions Re-Start Coat Drive

Eat at Cheers on Depot Street in Concord on Oct. 22, from 4 p.m. to close, and 40 percent of your tab will go to the effort.

Concord Fire Local 1045 and 3195 are re-launching their Operation Warm effort to raise money for new winter coats for Concord children.

All across America, according to Jim Duckworth, the president Local 1045, there are families struggling to meet their basic needs, which is why local firefighters are once again raising money for new coats which will be distributed later this year.

“By helping us, you help relieve the burden of poverty and bring the gift of happiness and warmth to children in need,” he noted in an email. “To date, Operation Warm has given new winter coats to over 1.7 million children throughout America and beyond. A brand new Operation Warm coat gives a child newfound freedom and confidence to play more, learn more, and do more.”

These coats are made in America by American workers. Unlike so many charities, these coat directly help your local community, he noted.

“Our two unions are working very hard to raise money and help Concord kids in need,” he stated. “It’s important to note that we donate 100 percent of what we earn to buy jackets.

The Locals are, once again, partnering up with our friends at Cheers for a big event night on Oct. 22, 2015.

From 4 p.m. to close, Cheers has again offered 40 percent of their take for that night to the cause.

Firefighters will have special guest bartenders and specialty food and drinks.

If you can’t make it on Oct. 22, order the Firehouse Burger, any time during the month, and 100 percent of the price of the burger will also be donated to the cause.
