Concord Firefighters Quickly Knock Down West Street Duplex Blaze

Concord fire and rescue teams doused a fire on the second floor of a home between South Main and South State streets on Wednesday morning.

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters quickly knocked down a fire at a duplex on West Street on Wednesday.

Just after 11:30 a.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch received a report of smoke in the building at 26 West St. Dispatch said the caller was unable to enter the building due to the smoke. Smoke was also seen from a second-story window. They also advised there was a hydrant not from the home on South State Street.

The fire commander said there appeared to be an evacuation in progress and an odor of smoke in the area. A couple of minutes later, smoke was confirmed from the west side of the building. Dispatch was also asked to call the police so West Street could be closed.
