Principal regrets not offering more information to parents.

After written , and increased police presence, Concord High School safely got through the school day Wednesday without any problems, according to Principal Gene Connolly.

Connolly sent another letter to parents on Feb. 6, reporting “things went smoothly” at the school on Feb. 5. Four extra police officers were a the school and there will be more officers again there today.

In the note to parents, Connolly said he regretted not giving parents more detailed information about the incidents previously. He explained that the threat was not against the school, its students, or faculty, but against two members of the school’s staff.

“When we received that information, we immediately spoke with the police and the two staff members,” he wrote. “At the time, I didn’t think this incident warranted an email home to you.”

Connolly said when the bullets were found he realized there was a possibility that the two were connected although there is no proof currently that the threats and bullets incidents were linked.

A number of parents privately stated that they kept their children out of school due to the threat. Others expressed anger and dismay for the lack of information circulated by school officials about the incidents.

Connolly thanked the police department, including Chief John Duval, “for their timely and supportive response.”
