The woman stated that McDonald allegedly assaulted her after an argument the afternoon before. The argument, she alleged, was verbal, at first, but then, McDonald allegedly slapped her four times, pushed her onto a bed, punched her the ribs, and kneed her legs four times, according to the affidavit. The officer eyed the woman’s injuries and noted that a knee cap was bruised and swollen.

The officer then went to Myrtle Street to speak with McDonald and he reportedly admitted to the pair having an argument the day before but “could sort out their own issues,” according to an affidavit. The argument, he reportedly said, was started after the woman complained about the volume on a television and was talking to him outside of a door. McDonald also allegedly admitted to “slapping her around a bit,” the report noted.

“McDonald said that he would never hit her hard enough to actually hurt her,” the officer alleged.

The officer left the residence, filed an affidavit, and he and another officer returned to Myrtle Street about four hours later to arrest McDonald. He was reportedly transported to police headquarters, without incident. However, during processing, he allegedly became “more agitated” after being searched and released from handcuffs, the affidavit stated.

McDonald allegedly wouldn’t adhere to commands to take off a sweater during processing so the officers attempted to put him back in handcuffs and he allegedly began pulling his arms away from police repeatedly. After allegedly resisting and ignoring commands “many times,” McDonald lunged toward the cell door and was taken down by officers and handcuffed again. He was transported to the Merrimack House of Corrections and held.
