Police: Heath Wilkins, along with an accomplice from Laconia, was attempting to steal guns, including an AK-47, from a home.

Gilmanton Police arrested two men, including a local resident, on Friday, allegedly in the process of burglarizing on home on Allens Mill Road.

Arrested were Jeromy Woodey 31, pictured right, of Pearl Street in Laconia, and Heath Wilkins 32, of Donovan Drive in Concord.

The officer exited the cruiser to investigate the issue and reportedly encountered a masked man wearing camouflage. The man, later identified as Woodey, allegedly attempted to hide from the officer. He was later taken into custody.

Another man was allegedly hiding behind a garage but quickly fled the area as other officers arrived. That man, Wilkins, allegedly left an AK-47 and three other rifles behind that he was attempting to steal from the home, according to police.

Gilmanton Police called in the Belmont Police K-9 unit as well as Laconia Police. Wilkins was found around 5 a.m. by officers and arrested.

Both men refused bail and were held in the Belknap County Jail, according to the report.

“The vehicle they left running on the side of the roadway was impounded as it was full of stolen items,” according to police.

Woodey, according to online reports, has been arrested in the past for DWI and has lost his license twice.
