Police: Man Threatened to Kill Woman, Child

Police reportedly talk man out of girlfriend's apartment.

A Concord man was arrested on multiple domestic violence charges Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting and threatening his girlfriend and daughter.

Marc Mallard, 30, of Concord, was arrested on April 29, and charged with three counts of simple assault, two counts of criminal threatening, both felonies, resisting arrest or detention, two counts of false imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to a press release, the incident began at 3 a.m. on April 29, at a Laurel Street address apartment building after police received a report that Mallard was making “veiled threats against his girlfriend and young daughter.” Officers were called to the scene and reportedly could hear “a physical confrontation taking place inside the residence.”

Police attempted to have Mallard open the door to the apartment but he reportedly refused. After officers told him that they need to check on the well being of the others in the apartment, Mallard allegedly suggested that he had a firearm.

“A short time later, the female and the child were able to flee the apartment,” Lt. Timothy O’Malley stated in a press release.

The woman alleged that she was assaulted and threatened multiple times during the encounter with Mallard. During one of the assaults, police alleged that Mallard pushed the woman against a wall while she was holding his daughter. Both fell to the floor, police allege.

Mallard also allegedly threatened to kill the woman and the daughter. Both reportedly sustained injuries, according to O’Malley.

During an hour and half period, police reportedly began to talk Mallard out of the apartment and eventually he surrendered to police.

Police report that Mallard had an active warrant for a non-appearance in the Belknap County Court for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned on April 30 in Sixth Circuit District Court.
