Concord Man to Police: ‘Just Take me to Jail’

Kendrick Waddell faces two charges.

A local man was arrested twice in one week last month and is expected in court in June to face the charges.

Kendrick Waddell, 42, of Concord, was arrested on April 20, and April 23, and criminal trespass and default or breach of bail conditions.

On April 20, at just before 8 p.m., officers on bike patrol downtown stopped by the Hess station on North Main Street and checked behind the dumpster. In the area, they came across four individuals. One, Waddell, had been served no trespass letter for the property the week before.

Three days later, in the early morning hours, an officer was sent to Concord Hospital to take custody of Waddell, who was reportedly drunk and needed to be taken to the prison to dry out. New Hampshire State Police found him near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Rum Hill Road. He was to have refrained from using alcohol as part of bail conditions from the previous arrest, according to the report.

When the officer arrived at the hospital, she made contact with Waddell and allegedly “immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.” The officer noted that it was clear he was intoxicated and in violation of his bail conditions.

“Waddell was unsteady on his feet and was slurring his words,” according to the report. “Waddell looked at me and said, ‘Just take me to jail.’”

Waddell was later arrested and during transport, the officer alleged that he “continuously talked but I had a hard time understand what he was saying as he was slurring his speech.” He was held without bail and was arraigned later in the day.
