Concord, New Hampshire And Peabody, Mass. Riders Injured During Snowmobile Crashes

Eric Buckley of Peabody, MA, rolled his machine while another rider struck Garrett Halle of Concord after they hit the throttle by accident.

LINCOLN, NH — Two snowmobile crashes were reported in Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m., conservation officers were told about a crash on Primary Trail 156 at the Bog Pond Trail Junction. According to information received by the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department, Eric Buckley, 57, of Peabody, Massachusetts, was riding as part of a guided tour and rolled his snowmobile, according to Christopher McKee, a conservation officer.

“Eric sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported out of the woods by the guides and taken by private vehicle to Spear Memorial Hospital for treatment,” he said.

About two hours later, a conservation officer was following up on the earlier accident at the SledVentures rental facility when another crash report came in from the same area and trail of the previous incident.

“The second accident involved a rental snowmobile and operator who had struck the tour guide while attempting to get his snowmobile unstuck from the side of the trail,” McKee said.

The guided tour was able to make it back to the facility.

According to an investigation, Alan Sisk, 65, of Georgia, was operating a rented machine when he got stuck in the deep snow. A guide, Garrett Halle, 32, of Concord, was attempting to free the machine when Sisk accidentally hit the throttle and struck Halle, McKee said.

Halle had serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“In both of these cases,” McKee said, “the involved snowmobiles were rentals and their operators had limited snowmobiling experience. That said, these crashes are still under investigation.”
