According to Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit for the Concord Police Department, after arresting John Conkle on the robbery charges two days after the incident, detectives began to develop information about a second subject who was reportedly seen in surveillance acting as a lookout and later, running from the scene of the robbery.

“Through their efforts, detectives were able to develop probable cause to arrest Jones for his role in the robbery,” O’Malley stated. “Specifically, Jones had acted as a lookout for Conkle during the robbery and later, he assisted Conkle in discarding some of the clothes worn during the robbery. Detectives also learned that he had helped Conkle to change his appearance by trimming his beard following the robbery.”
