Concord Police Log: Boscawen Man Drives Car into Penacook Lake, Charged with DWI

Plus, local DJ allegedly smashes California Raisin figurines; elderly women hit for license expirations; teen arrested for stealing hookah.

Bryan W. Batchelder, 44, of Grove Street in Concord, received a summons at 1:46 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2014, for the passing of items to or from the occupant of a motor vehicle at the intersection of Exit 14 and Stickney Avenue.

Travis Aaron Green, 19, of Perley Street in Concord, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2014, on two theft by unauthorized taking or transfer charges. Police were called to Spencer’s in the Steeplegate Mall on Loudon Road for a shoplifting complaint. A store employee alleged that Green stole a hookah valued at around $10. Green couldn’t be ID’d so he was taken into custody. Two knives were allegedly found in his pants and later, Sears employees alleged that they were stolen from their store. The value for the knives was about $19. He’s due in court on Feb. 9.

Jeni Lynn Zenke Nolan, 40, of Warren Street in Concord, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2014, on a criminal mischief charge. Officers were sent to South Street for a past tense domestic where a woman had already left the scene. When they arrived, they spoke with Nolan’s husband, who alleged that his soon-to-be ex-wife had broken the window to the door that enters into the kitchen. The two were separated and he reportedly told officers he was not happy that she showed up to pick up their kids with her new boyfriend. The two began arguing outside about Christmas plans but he returned to the home. She allegedly began banging on the glass window door and it broke. After the officer took a picture of the damage, Nolan drove up to the house and the officer spoke with her. After some discussion about the incident, she was arrested. Nolan is due in court on Feb. 9.

Kathleen Couch, 59, of South Main Street in Pittsfield, was arrested at 3:37 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2014, for willful concealment and a bench warrant. Officers were sent to the Family Dollar on Fisherville Road for a report of a shoplifter. While checking the shoplifter, Couch, it was learned that there was an active warrant issued on Oct. 9, 2014, out of Concord District Court for nonappearance. She allegedly attempted to shoplift coffee, lemonade drink mix, and a box of Christmas lights. Couch, at first, reportedly stated that she mistakenly forgot to pay for the items but later, when asked if she planned on stealing the items, she allegedly stated, “I guess so.” She was arrested and held on $1,000 cash bail.

Aaron Pitou Erickson, 36, of South Main Street in Concord and West Hancock Street in Manchester, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21, 2014, on five felony counts of reckless conduct; place another in danger and conduct after an accident from Oct. 16, 2014, on Village Street in Penacook. He was stopped on South Main Street for an expired inspection sticker. Erickson is due in court on Feb. 9.

Joel F. Wichenbaugh, 33, of King Street in Boscawen, was arrested at 5:28 a.m. on Dec. 21, 2014, for driving while intoxicated, stop sign violation, prohibited text messages and device usage while operating a motor vehicle. Also arrested was James O. Gadwah, 52, of King Street in Boscawen, on a driving after revocation or suspension charge. Police were called to an accident at Little Pond Road and Lakeview Drive where a vehicle had crashed into some rocks and was now submerged in Penacook Lake. A tipster called police after helping the driver, later identified as Wichenbaugh, out of the vehicle. Police alleged that he smelled like alcohol and that his eyes were red and glassy. Wichenbaugh stepped out of another car and reportedly stumbled and became emotional and apologetic about the incident. When asked what happened, he allegedly stated that he was distracted by his phone and didn’t stop. He was allegedly swaying from side to side, agreed to a field sobriety test, and was arrested. Wichenbaugh was arraigned on Jan. 12. Gadwah came to assist Wichenbaugh after the crash and a check of his license yielded a suspension from Oct. 7, 2014, for unsatisfied judgment. He’s due in court on Feb. 9.

Jennifer Dubois, 33, of Fifth Range Road in Pembroke, received a summons at 12:25 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2014, for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer at the Market Basket on Storrs Street involving about $65 worth of lighters and beauty products. She allegedly admitted to stealing the items and was released on a small summons, due to having no priors.

Judith L. McMurray, 67, of Checkerberry Lane in Hopkinton, received a summons at 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2014, for operating without a valid license after a no right turn on red traffic stop on North Main Street. Her license had expired in November.

Joan M. Snider, 84, of Bow Center Road in Bow, received a summons at 12:21 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2014, for operating without a valid license after a traffic stop for an expired inspection sticker on Storrs Street near Depot.

Trisha A. Willey, 30, of Pavillion Drive in Concord, was arrested at 10:14 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2014, for suspended registration and driving after revocation or suspension after a traffic stop for lack of an inspection sticker and a cracked windshield on a Ford Explorer driving on Washington Street in Penacook. Her suspensions were issued for failure to pay a court fine.

Jesse John McCarthy, 18, of Fisherville Road in Concord, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2014, on a driving after revocation or suspension charge and a bench warrant. An officer pulled McCarthy over after he reportedly drove a car through a red light at the intersection of North State Street and Fisherville Road. He had a warrant for nonpayment of fines on a possession of controlled drugs charge from Sept. 5, 2014. His license was suspended on Nov. 15, 2014.

Rebecca Lee Merryfield, 28, of Alice Drive in Penacook, was arrested at 4:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2014, on a simple assault charge. Officers were called to the home for a report of a domestic between three roommates. The officer met the first woman who stated that there had recently been some relationship issues in the home that Merryfield was allegedly “not handling well.” She had also reportedly not paid her share of the rent for two months. The roommate woke up at around 1:30 a.m. after hearing Merryfield and another roommate arguing about rent money. At one point, Merryfield allegedly pushed the other roommate into a laundry basket, causing the roommate to fall against a doorframe, hit her head, and injure her hand. The victim also made the same allegation. Merryfield reportedly told officers that she was being harassed for the rent money and planned on paying but didn’t have it. She allegedly stated that the roommate “got in her way as she was trying to leave so she bumped her with her shoulder.” She was then arrested.

Shephard Porcella, 24, of Pinehurst Street in Concord, was arrested at 3:10 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2014, on a simple assault charge from Dec. 15, 2014.
