Concord Police Nab Movie Fan

A number of Concord Regional Crimeline tips lead to arrest.

A Concord man was arrested last week after allegedly stealing DVDs last month from on Fort Eddy Road.

Derek S. Wright, 23, of Concord, was arrested at 12:34 p.m. on March 21, and charged with Theft. According to an arrest log, Wright allegedly took the DVDs from a bin at the store on Feb. 3.

of the said investigators received a number of tips after a media alert was sent out about the arrest. One of the tips came from an off duty police officer who recognized the man. A number of anonymous tips were also received via the Concord Regional Crimline.

“When you know somebody, you know them,” O’Malley said.

O’Malley said that sometimes, witnesses don’t realize who the person is. But someone who wears a certain outfit can spark a memory.

“It’s the little things that the average person sees,” he said. “It’s more about getting good pictures.”

In this specific case, getting the video caused a delay in getting a media alert out.

O’Malley said he did not know if the woman who reportedly was accompanying Wright when the DVDs were stolen would be charged in the case.

The DVDs were reportedly recovered by police, according to an arrest report. Personal recognizance bail was set at $2,000. Wright is due in Sixth Circuit District Court on April 23.
