CONCORD, NH — The Concord School District issued an alert to parents Wednesday informing them that they were aware of an individual, with unknown intent, attempting to contact Rundlett Middle School students. The "stranger alert," issued by Franklyn Bass, the interim superintendent of SAU 8, said students reported an incident to school personnel who then contacted Concord police.

Around 3:30 p.m., in the area of the Lun Hing Motel, bus personnel called police to alert them of the man attempting to give gifts to students getting off the bus. After hearing from students, the bus driver called police and waited in the area for officers to arrive, according to scanner chatter. Police searched the area but were unable to find the man. Since that time, police have discovered the man's identity.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we wanted to alert you and make you aware of what has transpired," Bass said. "We have been working collaboratively with CPD and they are increasing police presence in this area while they investigate this individual further. They know who he is and will be following up with him."

Bass said student safety was "our top priority" and officials would be doing everything they could to ensure the safety and well-being of students. He encouraged parents to speak with their children about stranger dangers and not interacting with them while walking to and from bus stops or school.

"If your child reports any suspicious activity, please contact the CPD immediately," Bass said. "And please let us know as well."
