WARNER, NH — A woman from Concord was carried off Mount Kearsarge after a leg injury on Sunday, according to the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department.

Around 8:30 a.m., a hiker sustained a lower leg injury while hiking down the mountain. The hiker, Lee Lewis, 54, of Concord, summited the mountain with her family and suffered the injury while trekking down Barlow Trail. Conservation Officer William Boudreau of Fish & Game said her family called 911 after she could not continue.

“Firefighters from the Hopkinton Fire Department and Warner Fire and Rescue Department responded and began carrying Lee down the mountain in a litter,” he said. “Several conservation officers also responded to help carry Lewis the three-fourths of a mile back to the trailhead on Kearsarge Mountain Road.”

Lewis was taken to Concord Hospital by the Hopkinton Fire Department Ambulance, he said.
