Convicted Second-Degree Assaulter, Fugitive Found Hiding in a Closet

U.S. Marshals tracked down and arrested Christopher Emmons this morning on probation violations after receiving numerous tips.

CONCORD, NH — Last week’s New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week was captured and arrested this morning after tips led to a home in Rochester where the fugitive was allegedly found hiding in a bedroom closet, according to the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Christopher Emmons, 40, was arrested on Jan. 17, 2017, for probation violations after being convicted of second-degree assault.

The warrant was issued against Emmons in August 2016 and last week, marshals put together a Fugitive of the Week feature asking for tips finding him. “Multiple anonymous tips,” according to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White, led investigators to Four Rod Road in Rochester.

“Members of the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force checked the residence early this morning,” White stated in a press release. “During a search of the home, Emmons was located hiding inside of a bedroom closet. Emmons was arrested without further incident and transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance.”

This arrest was made by the cooperative effort of several members of the U.S. Marshal’s, NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including, the Strafford, Hillsborough, Rockingham, Belknap County Sheriff’s Offices.

Emmons has a previous arrest history, according to posts online, an incident in January 2004 in Portsmouth after reportedly barricading himself into a hotel room. He was wanted for a home invasion incident in Rochester. Emmons was also arrested in December 2010, according to Fosters.com, in Rochester on three bench warrants and false report to law enforcement. In October 2013, according to Fosters.com, he was arrested in Rochester for criminal threatening, criminal mischief, and four counts of simple assault, as well as being arrested on a warrant.
