Cops: $8K in Gift Cards Illegally Purchased

Concord Regional Crimeline issues an alert asking for the public's help in IDing women allegedly involved in fraudulent credit card case.

The Concord Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two persons of interest involved in the theft of bank/credit cards and the subsequent fraudulent use of those cards, according to a press statement.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2015, an officer was dispatched to Panera on Fort Eddy Road for a theft of a wallet report.

The victim entered Panera around 12:30 p.m. for lunch and had her purse hanging on the chair she was seated at, according to the report. The victim never left the seat while in the restaurant.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., the victim received a call from one of her banks asking if she had just made a large purchase from Target on D’Amante Drive in Concord. The victim reported never having made such a purchase.

The officer later confirmed with Target that the victim’s credit/bank cards had been used to purchase a total of $8,000 Target Gift Cards (8 $1,000 cards).

Target employees reported that there were two females involved with the alleged purchases. They also confirmed that the women in question had reportedly attempted to make other purchases with other cards however were denied by employees.

A Target employee described one female as being tall and slightly heavy-set, with red bleached hair, tan-skinned and wearing an orange/yellow poncho and jeans. The second female was described as being short and small, with long dark hair, tan-skinned and wearing a light brown/tan sweater, a dark shirt and jeans.
