Deluge Of Rain, Severe Storms Heading To New Hampshire: Forecasters

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued as a cold front moves to the region — bringing storms, wind gusts, and up to 4 inches of rain.

GRAY, ME — A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for New Hampshire, warning of severe storms coming to the state on Thursday through Friday.

The alert was issued by the National Weather Service at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. A “strong cold front” will move to the area Thursday night and run through Friday, forecasters said.

“This will bring a period of moderate to heavy rainfall and strong southeasterly wind gusts,” NWS forecasters said. “Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 3 inches are possible, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Gusts may be stronger along the coast or in higher terrain.”

The combination of the heavy rain and gusty winds will remove leaves from the trees during peak foliage in New Hampshire. Those leaves, though, forecasters warn, will clog municipal storm drains and cause minor flooding.
