Democrat Wins District 18 State Rep. Special Election
Kris Schultz, in a historically safe seat for Democrats, demolishes Michael Feeley by a more than three-to-one on the Concord Heights.

CONCORD, NH — Ward 9 has a new state representative. Democrat Kris Schultz, a local activist, easily bested Republican Michael Feeley in a special election on July 18, 2017, 284 to 82, in what has historically been a safe seat for Democrats. The voter turnout was a little more than 13 percent, according to the Concord city clerk’s office.
House Democratic Leader Steve Shurtleff, D-Penacook, who is also an at-large city councilor, congratulated Schultz and said she would be a welcome addition to the House.
"We are thrilled to have such a great champion for health care and education joining our caucus to fight for Democratic values in Concord,” he said.

NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley called the victory a great one.
"Not only will Representative-elect Schultz be a great public servant, she also adds to a growing list of Democratic victories in New Hampshire this year,” he said. “The energy and enthusiasm of Democratic activism across the state have delivered two special election wins in as many months and Democrats should be encouraged to continue working hard in the coming months."
