Dolloff Named Concord Firefighter of the Year

This award and others were issued to firefighters recently.

The Fire Department recently held its awards ceremony and honored Firefighter Chris Dolloff as the Firefighter of the Year, according to a press release from Chief Dan Andrus.

Firefighter Dolloff was recognized for his commitment to training and his participation in several task forces to purchase fire vehicles and breathing equipment.

An Emergency Medical Services Excellence Citation was presented to Acting Battalion Chief Tim Robinson, Lieutenant John McAuliffe, Firefighter Paramedics Jim Farley and Ian Butman, and Firefighters Jim Pratt, Chris Johnson, Cory Clark, and Michael Souther for saving the life of a newborn infant.

Helping Hands awards were presented to Tom Wright of the Concord Parks and Recreation Department for rescuing a person who fell through the ice at White Pond Park; Uno Pizzeria and Grill, and Cheers Restaurant for their support of union locals’ initiatives for community benefits; Pat’s Peak for providing transportation for Concord firefighters to attend firefighter funerals in Boston; and to The Reverend Father Michael Wilson for his support of the Department and the community during his seven year tenure as pastor of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Letters of commendation were awarded to Administrative Specialist Erin Newnan for her leadership in projects and grant acquisitions that improve the safety of firefighters and provide great financial benefits to the community and to Lead Dispatchers John Marcel and Scott Bourque and Dispatcher Chris Szatynski for their exemplary performance during the November snow storm.

Mayor Bouley was the keynote speaker for the event and presented the awards to recipients.
