Driver Crashes Into Transit Van, New Hampshire State Police Cruiser In Bow
2 state troopers and a Concord man were taken to medical facilities; no charges have been filed in the case; investigators seek witnesses.

BOW, NH — A driver from Concord was accused of crashing into a transit van and a New Hampshire State Police trooper cruisier in Bow on Tuesday.
Around 11:15 a.m., state police were assisting a motorist in the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 north in Bow. While assisting the driver, another driver, Michael Dimattia, 31, of Concord, in a 1999 Nissan, was driving in the high-speed lane, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department, said.
“Dimattia attempted to merge into the middle lane,” she said. “During this attempt, he crashed into the back of a 2020 Ford Transit van.”

The van was being driven by Danielle Checchi, 30, of Walpole.
As a result of the crash, “Dimattia lost control of his vehicle and veered into the right breakdown lane” and “crashed into the back of the state police cruiser,” Lagace said. She said the two state troopers and Dimattia were taken to medical facilities to be evaluated for injuries, adding Checchi was not injured.

Lagace said two lanes of the Interstate were closed while the incident was investigated. State police were assisted by Bow fire and rescue teams, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and the New England Truck Center, which towed the cruiser and the Nissan from the scene.
Checchi was able to drive the transit van from the scene, Lagace added.
All aspects of this crash are still under investigation, she said.
