Emerald Ash Borer Workshop Held Next Month
Concord has become "ground zero" for the invasive insect. This free event explains the threat to the city's tree canopy and what you can do.

CONCORD, NH - UNH Cooperative Extension will be hosting a workshop next month about the Emerald Ash Borer insect and what is doing to the city of Concord.
At the workshop, you can learn about invasive insects and aging trees that are compromising the health of the city's tree canopy. Concord is ground zero for the discovery of the Emerald Ash Borer and the insect is now throughout the city's landscape. Learn what your options are, how to hire an arborist, tree replacement and where you can or cannot move the ash wood to.
Red pine scale is an exotic invasive insect that is killing red pine trees in Concord and the surrounding areas. Learn what the first signs of infestation look like and what the best course of action is for saving a red pine tree in the landscape.

Concord, like many New Hampshire communities, has many trees in older age classes, some with evident defects of decay, broken branches and large limbs overhanging buildings and driveways. Learn what actions you can take before you decide to throw the tree to the demise of the chainsaws and learn about the city's current work in replacing some of Concord's tree canopy.
