HOOKSETT, NH — A local man was arrested today and held when he refused bail after being charged with drunk driving. Willians Martinez, 38, of Hooksett, was arrested on April 28, 2019, on a single count of driving under the influence. According to police, officers were sent to the McDonald’s in Hooksett at just after 1:30 a.m. for a report of 2003 Dodge 1500 van not driving properly in the parking lot of the restaurant.

“(The vehicle) was driving erratically and almost struck another vehicle,” according to Sgt. David Scarpino of the Hooksett Police Department.

An officer made contact with the driver – Martinez – and allegedly observed signs of impairment.

“(The officer) asked Martinez to submit to field sobriety testing, which Martinez agreed to do,” Scarpino stated. “When (the officer) was part way through the field sobriety testing, Martinez refused to complete the rest of the testing.”

Martinez was arrested and transported to headquarters. During processing, police alleged that he refused additional testing and also would not see a bail commissioner so he was held without bail. Martinez was transported to the Merrimack County House of Corrections and will be arraigned in Hooksett District Court on April 29.
