CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help finding a fugitive wanted on a probation violation after being convicted of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon.

Chad James Dandeneau is 49, white, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighs around 200 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Investigators said he sometimes uses the aliases “Zachary Tetreault” or “Robbie Crichton.” The warrant for his arrest was issued in October 2023.

Dandeneau was placed on probation in January 2023. While out, he was accused of absconding from pretrial services and committing more crimes.

Dandeneau, according to superior court records, has a criminal history dating back more than 20 years to mid-2000 when he was charged with habitual offender in Rochester. He pleaded guilty in December 2000.

In Nashua, in July 2004, he was charged three times with habitual offender and pleaded guilty to two of the charges in October 2005.

In August 2006, he was involved in two driving incidents — he was charged with habitual offender, reckless operation, resisting arrest or detention, conduct after an accident, in Manchester and habitual offender, conduct after an accident, disobeying an officer, and reckless operation in Hooksett.

Dandeneau was charged with felon in possession of a dangerous weapon in Dover in February 2020 and pleaded guilty to the charge later. In Somersworth, in June 2021, he was charged with contempt and several drug possession counts. He pleaded guilty to the charge later. Dandeneau was also arrested on reckless conduct-deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest or detention, and driving after revocation or suspension charges in Rochester. In December 2021, he pleaded guilty to drug and reckless conduct charges. In January 2023, he was convicted on a violation of a probation or parole charge connected to the charges.

In Somersworth again, in September 2022, he was arrested on a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent charges. He pleaded to both charges.

In January 2023, he was charged with three drug counts, including methamphetamine sales, from the September 2022 Somersworth incident. In August 2023, one of the drug charges was dropped. Dandeneau was supposed to be in court on Jan. 8 for jury selection.

Dandeneau had a probation hearing in August 2023 and agreed to change his plea a month later. He was arrested on a warrant and held on preventative detention.
