Fight About a Stuffed Animal Leads to Assault Charges
Concord Police arrest Brittany Wilcox after South State Street incidents.

A local woman was arrested twice in three weeks after alleged drinking incidents on South State Street.
Brittany Lynn Wilcox, 24, of South State Street in Concord, was arrested at 7:56 p.m. on Nov. 25, on two simple assault charges, and again at 5:38 p.m. on Dec. 10, for a default or breach of bail conditions charge.
According to arrest reports and court documents, in the first incident, while patrolling the South End around 4:30 p.m., an officer saw a woman screaming at a man near the intersection of South State and Downing streets.

The man, her husband, appeared calm during the entire interaction. He told police that Wilcox had allegedly been consuming alcohol all day and was upset about a yard sale across the street. She accused her husband of giving away a stuffed animal to the yard sale but he denied it. The officer noted that Wilcox was allegedly “acting irrationally” but no crime had been committed so he left the scene.
Three hours later, the officer was sent back to the location with other officers where Wilcox was in the American Legion parking lot allegedly screaming. The reporting officer described her eyes as bloodshot and glassy. Her husband was standing on the porch of the apartment and explained to officers that Wilcox allegedly had just assaulted him and one of his roommates. He alleged that Wilcox had continued drinking since the last time the officer was there and had allegedly pushed him, the roommate, and knocked items off a shelf. The officer noted the injuries to the two men but they refused medical attention.
Wilcox was taken into custody and was “very rude” during processing, allegedly screaming and cutting off the officer while he was trying to explain the bail process.
“How about I laugh about how f-----‘ retarded you are,” she allegedly stated to the officer at one point. Another time, she allegedly stated, “I’m three weeks pregnant and if I don’t get to the methadone clinic tomorrow I will sue your a--.”
When the bail commissioner came back with $2,000 cash bail, Wilcox allegedly scream, “F----- bull----!”
During the second incident, an officer was called to an apartment on South State Street around 5:30 p.m. after pre-trial services alleged that Wilcox was intoxicated and out of control.
Officers were called to the scene and reportedly found Wilcox sitting in a chair on a balcony, “slumped over and her eyes closed.” There was a two-liter bottle of soda and a half full fifth of Zhenka vodka on the table in front of Wilcox.
The officers tried to wake Wilcox up and eventually, she raised her head and opened her eyes. She allegedly denied drinking but the reporting officer noted that she was slurring her speech and smelled like alcohol.
The officer spoke to both her husband and roommate who alleged that she had been drinking and Wilcox was taken into custody.
“By this time Wilcox was crying and pleading with (an officer) to let her say goodbye to her husband,” the officer wrote. “She continued to be emotional and was crying throughout processing.”
