Fire In Abandoned Regal Cinema Parking Lot Quickly Knocked Down By Concord Firefighters

Watch: A man set a shopping cart on fire and pushed it into a trailer, which also caught on fire Wednesday night. Plus, a theft at Target.

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters quickly knocked down a fire in the parking lot of the abandoned Regal Cinemas on Loudon Road on Wednesday night.

Just before 8:15 p.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch received a report about an unknown trailer on fire. Firefighters, upon arrival, confirmed there was a fire in the back parking lot and would investigate once they gained access to the parcel.

Officers were also sent to the scene. Police dispatch told the officers a witness reported a man, dressed completely in black, set a shopping cart on fire and then pushed it into a trailer, which then caught on fire.

By 8:30 p.m., they extinguished the fire and began clearing the scene.

An officer stated witnesses said the suspect left the area on foot, heading toward Loudon Road in an unknown direction.

An officer reported seeing open doors on the building and searched it, but did not find anyone inside.

While the fire situation was being handled, officers were sent to Target on D’Amante Drive for a report of a theft in progress.

A loss prevention employee reported people stealing items from the store and fleeing toward the southern part of the parking lot. The employee chased them and attempted to get a vehicle registration.

A Merrimack County Sheriff’s Deputy also arrived to assist.

At least one teenager from the Lakes Region was caught later, and a parent was asked to come to the store to pick her up. According to scanner chatter, two other people were questioned but denied having any involvement in the incident. Another parent was reportedly from Colorado, while another was from Boscawen.

Police were also involved with a report of a missing juvenile on Wednesday night.
