First 'Stuff-A-Cruiser' Food Drive a 'Great Success'

More than half a ton of food was collected. There will be two more chances in Concord for you to help those in need this week.

CONCORD, NH — The Concord Police Department and NH Food Bank held a food drive this weekend and the event went well, according to organizers. As part of Hunger Action Month, the food bank and police encouraged residents to stop by Market Basket on Sept. 18 to make donations. The donations will be made to The Friendly Kitchen.

Nancy Mellitt of the NH Food Bank called the drive "a great success." Mellitt stated that 1,000 lbs. - half a ton - of food was collected. Enough for more than 1,300 meals.

The next one will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Shaw’s Supermarket at its Fort Eddy Road location. Hannaford will also be helping out. Food will be collected on Ford Eddy Road there from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. These donations will be given to the Friends of Forgotten Children.
