Flags Lowered to Half-Staff for 9/11 Remembrance Day on Sunday

Events will be held all around New Hampshire for the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks where 10 Granite Staters lost their lives.

CONCORD, NH — Gov. Maggie Hassan has directed all flags in the state of New Hampshire to half-staff on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, for 9/11 Remembrance Day. She issued a proclamation on Friday and will also be attending events on Sunday.

“Every year on Sept. 11, we come together to honor and remember the innocent lives that were lost in those senseless acts of terror, the first responders and ordinary citizens who bravely put their lives on the line to save others, and the service members and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their fellow citizens,” Hassan said. “On the 15th anniversary of that terrible day, we also continue to remember how Americans came together and demonstrated our collective resilience in the face of great tragedy and the undying American spirit of perseverance that has always defined our great country. As we honor the memory of the 10 Granite Staters we lost on September 11, 2001, and all of the innocent victims, we remain united in our shared values as Americans, and we remain forever grateful for our brave men and women in uniform, our public safety officials and first responders, and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that our country can be safer and our freedom can be stronger.”
