Floating Body Parts False Alarm on the Merrimack River

Concord Police investigate report after snorkeler reportedly finds what looked like body parts near clothing in the water.

CONCORD, NH — Concord Police were along the Merrimack River yesterday near the Second Street boat ramp looking for the possible remains of a body – or body parts – floating in the river. Thankfully, the call turned out to be a false alarm. Police were sent to the river at around 4 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2016, after a snorkeler reportedly found bones near clothing along the river.

Officers were called to the scene to inspect the items and look for more clues. Ultimately, the bones turned out to be wild turkey bones, according to police.

“All in all, we’re very glad they were not human remains,” noted Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit for the Concord Police Department.
