Fugitive Lip Biter Caught in California

Fernando Anton of Nashua was wanted for first-degree assault and was to be this week's Fugitive of the Week.

This week’s U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Fugitive of the Week was caught early, according to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White.

Fernando Anton, 23, who was last known to live in Nashua, was to be this week’s Fugitive of the Week. He was wanted by the Nashua Police Department for first-degree assault against a woman in September, reportedly biting her lip during a violent attack that resulted in serious injuries.

Anton, who had a number of previous arrests, according to online reports, had been on the run. Nashua Police followed up on “countless leads” trying to find him but none of them panned out. Police contacted marshals to have Anton featured as a Fugitive of the Week, to be released to the media tonight.

However, before that happened, marshals caught up to Anton.

“Numerous additional tips came in to the Nashua Police Department which pointed investigators to the west coast,” according to White. “Through these tips, investigators were able to develop a location for Anton in an apartment in the 200 block of Sixteenth Street in San Diego, CA. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force contacted their counterparts in San Diego, who immediately acted on this information.”

White said that marshals located and arrested Anton not long after that. He will be charged with being a fugitive from justice and extradited to New Hampshire. Anton is being held in jail without bail pending a court hearing in California.
