According to a press release, the department received the information from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force and executed a search warrant of Tasker’s Smoke Street home. The search was a result of “a lengthy investigation into the illegal use of computers and the possession of controlled drugs.”
Tasker, according to Chief Gunnar Foss of the Nottingham Police Department, was arraigned today and is being held on $250,000 cash bail. The arrest, he noted in a press statement, continues to be an “active investigation” with “the potential of additional charges.”

A three term state representative serving Candia, Deerfield, and Nottingham, Tasker has not been without controversial headlines although he appears to have no previous arrest record.
Back in 2012, he dropped his gun at the start of a House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee hearing. Tasker reportedly told people nearby that he had just given blood and may have been light-headed.
Two years later, he shared a sexually explicit image on Facebook and made a crack about battered women but stated later that he only meant to be funny.
A few months after that, he got into a dustup, which made national headlines, about African-American politicians and rap music, asking if there was a “white caucus of state legislators.”
On Facebook yesterday, he posted a picture of the Dalai Lama commenting on how man sacrifices his health to make money. Earlier this month, he posted a picture of Donald Trump with his daughter, Ivanka, leaning against his lap, in a photo from 1996 when she was a 15-year-old girl.
A number of his friends commented – “Nasssty” and “I see a sweet piece” while others stated, “That’s creepy.”
House Speaker Shawn Jasper, R-Hudson, after hearing of the arrest, issued the following statement:
“Representative Tasker is facing serious charges that, if true, are beyond the bounds of human decency. It is clear that given the seriousness of these allegations, Rep Tasker will be unable to represent his constituents effectively, and should resign immediately.
This morning I issued a letter immediately removing him from his assignment on the House Children and Family Law committee. While only Rep. Tasker can make the decision to resign from his seat, the House does have the ability to remove him.
As elected officials, we should hold ourselves to the highest standard of ethics and decency, and our constituents expect that from us. These allegations put an unfortunate stain on the good work we try and do here and what we have accomplished this term. The people of New Hampshire have a right to be concerned about the alleged actions of this individual, but they should be confident that the vast majority of elected officials are here in Concord working in their best interests.”
