Fife was a long-time fixture of the city’s homeless community, attending meals at the Friendly Kitchen and helping others in wheelchairs navigate the icy and snow-covered sidewalks from North Main Street to South Commercial Street, from the homeless resource center, the Concord Monitor revealed after Gene Parker, a wheelchair bound patron of the food kitchen was struck by a vehicle while on the highway a decade ago. According to court records, Fife was convicted of arson and criminal mischief in 2001 after he burglarized and set fire to the United Church of Penacook, where his family attended services. A pastor of the church at the time surmised Fife may have been distraught about a death in the family, according to a report in the Monitor.
