When they arrived, they met and spoke with Lombard, who was sitting on the stairs on the Washington Street side of the church with a man.
“Lombard was yelling that she wanted her debit card back,” the reporting officer alleged. “(A man) told me that he did take it because she was intoxicated enough and did not need more alcohol.”
Lombard, the officer alleged, had glassy, bloodshot eyes, her speech was slurred, and she reportedly admitted to drinking. The pair had been dating about a year, the man reportedly stated. He added that the bus company wouldn’t let them on the bus while she was so reportedly intoxicated.
The officer noticed that the man also had two fresh cuts on his forehead and one along his hairline and when asked, he alleged that Lombard “hit him in the head” with her cane repeatedly. Lombard, however, reportedly denied hitting the man in the head. She claimed she had been hit and then the man took her debit card.
“Lombard did not have any injuries,” the reporting officer wrote, adding that she claimed the victim’s wounds were old even though the officer stated they were clearly fresh wounds.
The officer spoke with the victim again, attempting to find the cane. The man said he threw it onto the roof to get it away from her so she would stop hitting him, according to the report. He grabbed her debit card after he threw the cane, he reportedly stated, and denied hitting her, according to the report.
When asked how the crane got onto the roof, Lombard allegedly stated, “It just flew up there.” She also reportedly denied that the victim threw it and said the cuts on his forehead and hairline were from shaving.
Lombard was arrested and arraigned on March 28.
