Hopkinton Grad Set to Release Eleventh Historical Fiction Novel

Former Teachers Inspired Interest in History

Michael Paul Hurd, a 1977 graduate of Hopkinton High School, is set to release the eleventh historical fiction novel in his Lineage Series over the summer. Titled "Take the Long Way Home," the book provides a fictional account of the escape of Charles II from England following the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

The entire Lineage Series - which does not have to be read sequentially - is based on intersections of Hurd's family tree with events in history, going back as far as the courts of Henry VII and VIII in England on his father's side. Each story overlays Hurd's family tree on historical events as if the ancestors were participants. Some of the initial genealogical research was provided by Hurd's deceased son, Adam.

Hurd credits his continuing interest in history to two former teachers at Hopkinton High School, Mr. Robert Wirta and Mr. Augustine ("Gus") Moynihan - both of whom are now deceased. "Uncertain Alliances: Lineage Series, Book Seven" was dedicated to these two educators.
