Hopkinton Man Accused Of Assaulting Concord Taxi Driver On I-89
Dax David Duclos was arrested Friday accused of attacking a Main Street Taxi company driver with a pocket knife while "highly intoxicated."

CONCORD, NH — A Hopkinton man was arrested Friday on felony charges after being accused of assaulting a Concord company cab driver on Interstate 89.
New Hampshire State Police troopers were sent to the area of Exit 2 and Exit 3 on the northbound side of I-89 around 8 p.m. for a report of an assault, according to Sgt. Irwin Malilay of Troop D. A cab driver with Main Street Tax reported being assaulted by a passenger while on the Interstate.
"The driver was able to pullover and defend himself from the assailant," he said. "A brief fight ensued on the side of the roadway but the driver was able to escape and drove to the Troop D barracks in Concord to report the incident."

The suspect fled the scene, Malilay said, and troopers canvassed the area. The suspect was identified as Dax David Duclos, 44, of Hopkinton because he "left his wallet and a small pocketknife" inside the cab. Duclos, Malilay said, used the knife to assault the taxi driver.
Duclos was found later by a trooper and K-9 unit walking in the breakdown lane of I-89 north in the area of Mile Marker 4.4 and was arrested.

"Duclos was uninjured but highly intoxicated," Malilay said.
Duclos was charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, both felonies, and is due in Merrimack County Superior Court at a later date. The cabbie did not sustain serious injuries. He was treated by Concord fire and rescue teams and released.
