House Fire Reported on Ridge Road

WATCH: All of Concord's firefighters were in the West End at a house fire earlier today; one firefighter was injured, sent to the hospital.

CONCORD, NH - Concord Fire and Rescue teams were called to the corner of Ridge Road and Forest Street for a house fire at just after 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2016.

Mutual aid was quickly called in to cover as all of the city’s firefighters were sent to respond to the fire. Firefighters found smoke billowing out of the first floor of the home. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but according to scanner chatter, it sounded as if the fire started in the kitchen and then had moved or was found in the basement of the home. Later, firefighters stated they found problems with the oil tank.

According to Chief Dan Andrus, the fire caused heavy damage to the home. One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Crews worked successfully to contain the fire to the basement and first floor, although there was smoke damage throughout the residence,” Andrus said in a statement. “ A fire officer was injured during firefighting operations inside the home and was taken to Concord Hospital by ambulance.”

Andrus noted that mutual aid teams responding to assist at the scene and cover Concord included firefighters from Boscawen, Bow, Hopkinton, Loudon, Pembroke, and the Penacook Rescue.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation and no immediate damage estimates were available,” he noted.

According to city records, the home was built in 1934, according to Andrus.

At 10:30 a.m., the fire was believed to be completely out and firefighters were ventilating the home.
