I-93 Accident Sends Motorcyclist to the Hospital

NHSP: Section of highway closed for about an hour on July 17; man listed in critical condition after crashing into median guardrail.

A section of I-93 in New Hampton just north of Exit 23 was closed for a little less than an hour earlier today after a single motorcycle crash.

According to New Hampshire State Police, troopers were sent to the crash at just before 1:30 p.m. on July 17, 2015, where a 50-year-old man on a motorcycle struck a median guardrail.

“The subject was thrown from the motorcycle coming to final rest in the left travel lane,” according to Lt. Gregory Ferry of the NHSP. “The motorcycle continued northerly along the guardrail for approximately 400 feet before traversing off onto the right shoulder embankment.”

The man was medflighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon in critical condition. The highway was closed for about 50 minutes and traffic was diverted at Exit 23 and re-routed on Route 132 to Exit 24 in Ashland, according to the report.

The New Hampshire State Police/Troop D was assisted by the Ashland Fire Department, the New Hampton Fire Department, DART, New Hampton Police Department, Sanbornton Police Department, Troop G and Troop F, according to Ferry.
