Intersection Reconfiguration

Realignment of Borough Rd. / Washington St. / River Rd. Intersection

The intersection of Washington Street, River Road, and Borough Road will be realigned Monday. Concord General Services will be collaborating with the City of Concord’s Community Development Department and Traffic Operations Committee to relocate the intersection from Borough Road as a right angle with a stop-controlled intersection to Washington Street. Temporary barricades and drums will be closing off the discontinued pavement area. The pavement removal, re-planting, and installation of permanent signs will be completed throughout the month of May. Washington Street to River Road will remain as a through street, but this new configuration will reduce the speed of turning traffic, improve the sight line for Borough Road westbound traffic, and substantially reduce the large size of the paved intersection to enhance public safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
