CONCORD, NH — Employees of Bangor Savings Bank were in Concord last week to make good on a promise – delivering hundreds of jars of peanut butter and jelly to a local nonprofit, to share with those in need. It was the eighth time the bank has collected PB&J as a corporate initiative but the first time any jars were delivered to the capital city, where the bank has a relatively new branch on Loudon Road and another one on the way on North Main Street. The Community Action Program – which serves the residents of Belknap and Merrimack counties – were the local nonprofit receiving more than 500 jars this year.

The donation will be used as part of the org's summer food service program.

“Each year, our employees put so much heart into the PB&J Drive, and our customers, local businesses and schools step up to make mountains of PB&J,” said Bob Montgomery-Rice, the bank's president and CEO. “It’s a great feeling to know the Drive will help people in need throughout Maine and New Hampshire.”

This year, the bank collected the greatest number of jars ever – 17,164 – beating the previous best year by more than 4,500 jars. Since 2012, the bank has collected and donated more than 83,000 jars.
