NORTHFIELD, NH — A woman from Laconia faces charges in Franklin District Court next month after being arrested Saturday for drunken driving, resisting arrest, and assault after an incident at the Canterbury rest area on Interstate 93.

Around 2:15 a.m., a state trooper monitoring traffic on the highway saw a driver driving a vehicle traveling through the rest area without its lights on. The vehicle stopped in the onramp's travel lane, preparing to enter the highway in Northfield.

The trooper stopped and spoke to the driver, from Laconia — Vanessa L. Hall, 39. After an investigation, she was arrested for driving under the influence, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the state police, said.
