Lakes Region Felon Wanted By Belmont Police, County Sheriffs: New Hampshire Corrections
Leroy Howard Boynton is wanted on active drug charges, "has been violent in the past," and should be considered "armed and dangerous."

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help finding a Lakes Region felon with “violent tendencies” who is also considered by officials to be “armed and dangerous.”
Leroy Howard Boynton is white, 56, about 150 pounds, and 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Officials said he had no known scars or tattoos. Boynton is wanted on warrants issued by the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department and Belmont police. Corrections officials said he was last known to live in the Tilton area.
“Boynton has a lengthy criminal record that includes simple assault, driving under the influence, possession of drugs, larceny, counterfeit, and violations of probation,” an alert stated. “Boynton is known to carry knives on his person and a BB gun was found in his vehicle.”

Boynton has not been known to resist but “has been violent in the past,” officials said.
“His current whereabouts are unknown,” according to the alert.

According to superior court records, Boynton has a criminal history dating back about a decade.
In December 2014, he was accused of acts prohibited in Belmont. Thirteen months later, he was formally charged. About six months later, the charges were nolle prossed just before a jury trial.
Sometime between when that case was resolved and October 2018, when he was accused of felony drug possession and two handguns felon, gun application charges out of Belmont, Boynton became a felon. He was charged in May 2019. In September 2019, he was accused of drug possession, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and breach of bail in Gilford. In January 2020, he was charged with breach of bail, drug possession-subsequent, and two other possession charges after an incident in Gilford. In April 2020, the drug possession and gun application charges were nolle prossed. About seven months later, Boynton pleaded guilty to two drug possession counts in the two Gilford cases and received a two- to four-year prison sentence, with two years probation, suspended for two years with a $434 fine.
In May 2021, he was accused of violation of probation or parole. Seven months later, he pleaded guilty and received a 12-month sentence with seven days of time served credit.
In Laconia, in October 2021, Boynton was charged with drug possession again, but the charge was nolle prossed two months later.
In November 2022, he was accused of violation of probation or parole again.
In February 2023, after an incident in Tilton, he was charged with a subsequent drug possession felony count.
Boynton pleaded guilty again to violating probation or parole and faced a new Tilton drug charge in April 2023. He was given no sentence on the parole count but received credit for 64 days of time served. In the Tilton drug charge, he was given a two- to four-year sentence with three years probation, all suspended for four years, and a $620 fine.
After a late July 2023 incident in Laconia, Boynton was charged with two counts of drug possession. He was indicted on the charges in October 2023. After failing to appear at a dispositional conference hearing, a warrant was issued for his arrest in November 2023.
Also last year, in May, August, and September 2023, the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department issued several warrants for Boynton’s arrest. The Tilton case is still active.
