Late February Snowstorm Could Dump 12 Inches In NH: Forecasters
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Thursday night to Saturday morning; chilly temps return in 24 hours; more.

GRAY, ME — After a dousing of rain on Tuesday and balmy temperatures on Wednesday, winter will be returning to New Hampshire during the next 48 hours, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday issued both a hazardous weather outlook and a winter storm watch — warning the state that snow was expected from late Thursday night to early Saturday morning.
“Heavy snow possible,” the alert stated. “Potential exists for greater than 6 inches of snowfall. Travel could be very difficult due to low visibility and snow-covered roads.”

The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes, the alert said, with the potential for “heavy snowbands and snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour during the Friday morning commute.”
AccuWeather.com, which usually has snow predictions made within 48 hours, did not have specifics published on Wednesday.

Their forecasters did, however, warn that the warm temperatures of Tuesday and Wednesday — unseasonably warm, in the mid-50s, were on their way out. Cold air from Canada and the Great Lakes moves into the region on Thursday, the report stated.
“Temperatures are forecast to be slashed by as much as 20 to 40 degrees in just 24 hours,” the story said.
Forecasters are calling for 6 to 11 inches of snow in Concord and the capital region, 6 to 12 inches of snow for Nashua and central Hillsborough County communities, and 7 to 12 inches of snow on the Seacoast.
