Learn About Running For Concord School Board On Thursday

SAU 8 board of education members will chat with potential candidates in the November election about the role and issues facing the district.

CONCORD, NH — Are you considering running for a Concord board of education seat?

Would you like to know what the role entails?

As in years past, school board members will hold an information session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, in the district’s central office on 38 Liberty St. for all interested candidates. The event will be held in the boardroom.

Three seats will be decided in November: District A, which represents Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4; District B, which covers Wards 5, 6, and 7; and District C, which represents voters and residents in Wards 8, 9, and 10. Signups for the seats begin at 8 a.m. on Sept. 9 at the Concord School District office at 38 Liberty St. Filing will end at 5 p.m. on Sept. 19. The filing fee is $5.

Jim Richards, the board president, Dave Parker, and Virginia Cannon, the current district board members, have not confirmed their intentions for 2022.

In 2019, the day after the informational meeting, several candidates came forward to run for the seats.

Candidates elected on Nov. 8 will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2023, and serve for three years. The term for each ends on Dec. 31.
