Man Arrested After Assaulting His Wife with a Cooking Pot

Rwigema Jackson was held without bail after spilling beans on the floor and then allegedly striking the woman with a pot and phone charger.

A local man was held on cash bail earlier this month after allegedly striking his wife with a cooking pot.

Rwigema Jackson, 34, of Cherry Street in Concord, was arrested at 8:51 p.m. on April 12, 2015, on two counts of simple assault and two counts of domestic violence-simple assault.

Officers, according to a report, were called to an apartment on Cherry Street for a possible domestic that Concord Fire and Rescue teams had been called to assist at due to a serious injury that needed medical attention.

When they arrived, the first officer knocked at the door and observed a large number of people inside the apartment. One person, Jackson, reportedly had his back to the officer and was “yelling and slamming a toy horse on the kitchen table.” Jackson turned around and the officer took the toy from him and requested that he sit down, which he did.

The reporting officer was told that there was a woman who didn’t speak English on a couch and was badly injured.

“She was holding the top of her head in obvious pain,” the officer wrote.

As EMTs assisted the woman, the officer spoke to one of the children who alleged that Jackson had hit his mother with a cooking pot. A translator in the room assisted with the investigation, according to a report.

Jackson was arrested and charged while the woman was transported to Concord Hospital. A translator assisted with her statement while she was being treated.

According to the report, the victim alleged that she was cooking beans when Jackson came in and allegedly dumped the beans on the floor. He then allegedly struck her in the head with the cooking pot. She attempted to run away but Jackson allegedly came after her and struck her a second time in the head with a phone charger.

A second assault charge was added and Jackson was held without bail. He was arraigned the next day.
